About Resveratrol
The French are known for the highest fat diets in the world, but have much fewer cases of heart disease in France than in America. This well known statistic was coined by the scientist Dr Serge Renaud in 1992 as "The French Paradox" and has been known as such ever since.
His studies established a correlation between the "French Paradox" and the high amounts of red wine the French consume. Studies pointed to the presence of a unique substance in red wine, called RESVERATROL (there are other sources of Resveratrol too, like the Giant Knotweed plant and a few others).
The studies firmly established the French Paradox/Red Wine/Resveratrol connection and triggered more scientific and medical research into much more health benefits of Resveratrol.
Resveratrol (as you may have seen in the links above), is very safe for human consumption and is not a "drug" at all.
